"MEGA BLASTRA!" The strange man then shot a large beam of energy from his hand. "No! This can't be how it ends!" Iashi thought to himself as the attack quickly closed in on him. All Taka and Seito could do was watch as their friend was about to be blasted into Oblivion. "Oh, how did this even happen?!"
It was a regular day for a regular high school student. Iashi was getting ready for school as usual. He was in the middle of brushing his teeth when he heard a knock on the front door. "I wonder who that could be?" he said sarcastically. He walked over to the door, toothbrush still in his mouth, and as he got to the door it flew open, smacking him in the face. "Hey Ia~!"said a voice from the door. It was Seito, his best friend and neighbor, coming by like every morning to walk to school with him. Her long, blonde hair fell gracefully to her waist as she stood in the doorway. "I told you not to call me that!" Iashi said, holding his bloody nose. "Oops, sorry Iashi." she said handing him a tissue from her backpack. "You're not even ready for school yet!" she said with a scolding voice. "Well I would be if you hadn't nearly broken my nose with the door!" he exclaimed. This was how it usually went in the mornings.
As the two made their way to school, Iashi's stomach growled. "You missed breakfast again, didn't you?" Seito asked, eyeing him closely. "Well of course I did! You ate all the food in the house!" Iashi said with a glare. Seito turned her nose up at him. "Well in that case I won't give you the special bento I made for you!" she said, running ahead while laughing. "B-bento?!" he said, drooling. "W-wait! I didn't mean it! Come back!" he ran after her but she was too far ahead. "Crap. How am I going to find her now?" he thought. Just then he heard a scream. "That sounds like Seito! She must be in trouble!" He ran toward the scream to find a man with short, black hair hunched over his fallen friend. "Back away from her, you pervert!" he shouted as he ran at the man. "Iashi! It's okay! This is my Uncle Taka!" Seito said laughing. The man turned to look at Iashi, his glasses shining in the sun. "Why hello there, Iashi!" he said in a deep voice. "I've heard so much about you from my niece!" Iashi couldn't help but gawk at the man. His muscles bulged from his shirt, nearly ripping it, and his goatee only intensified his intimidating appearance. "Uncle Taka is our new principal!" Seito said with a grin. "P-p-principal?!" Iashi said, shocked.
The three continued walking to school together. "So Iashi, what have you been up to? I hear you're quite the weakling!" Taka laughed. Iashi gave Seito a glare, who just whistled as though she was innocent. "I'm not weak I'm just physically challenged." he finally replied. The older man laughed and smacked Iashi's back, nearly knocking him off his feet. "Whatever you say Mr. Physically Challenged!" Iashi stared at Taka. "What is it, boy?" Taka asked, noticing Iashi's stare. "I-it's just we haven't really been properly introduced." he said nervously. "Oh right!" Taka laughed. "Well as you know I am Seito's uncle, and your new principal." "Yes but what else? I mean what did you before becoming our principal?" Iashi asked. Taka immediately got a serious look on his face. "I was a master martial artist at a dojo back home. I could break a man's skull with a flex of my finger." Iashi fell to the ground in fear. "Oh, quit scaring Iashi, Uncle Taka!" Seito broke in, giving Taka a playful punch on the arm. Taka rubbed the back his head and laughed. "Oh fine. I was actually a fisherman." he said, helping Iashi up. "Whew, thank goodness." Iashi said, breathing a sigh of relief. "So tell me more about yourself, Iashi." Taka said. "Well, I'm a B average student, I live alone, and I hope to one day touch the sky." he said, looking up at the cloudless blue above them. Seito and Taka exchanged a glance. "Yeah, go ahead and laugh. I know it's a stupid dream." said Iashi. "No! It's not stupid!" exclaimed Taka and Seito simultaneously. "You should always follow your dreams, Iashi!" said Seito, grabbing his arm and smiling. "Ahahahahaha! She's right, Mr. Physically Challenged!" boomed Taka in his loud, commanding voice. "You should never give up no matter what the circumstances! " Taka gave Iashi a muscular thumbs up, his eyes barely visible past the glare on his glasses. Iashi laughed. "I guess you're right! I should follow my dreams and never give up on them!" "That's the spirit, my boy!" laughed Taka.
Suddenly, there was an uneasy feeling in the air. It was as if a miasma suddenly enveloped the trio of friends. It was almost as though it was suffocating them, intent on blocking off every last breath of air they could get, while still allowing them enough to suffer through it. Iashi could feel his vision fading. He didn't know what was going on and didn't really know if he wanted to. Just before he blacked out he saw two flashes of light appear. He heard a voice that he could've sworn he had heard before, but he couldn't place the face to it. "Tekra Whips!" said the voice, and that was the last thing he heard before the darkness consumed him.
"W-where...am I? Am...am I...dead?" Iashi thought to himself as he seemed to float in endless darkness. Suddenly, there was a voice in his head yet also all around him. "No...you are not dead, Iashi." said the voice. It was smooth and calming, like a mother consoling her crying baby. "But if I do not warn you, there is a great possibility that that might just happen." "Warn me?!Warn me about what?!" Iashi exclaimed. "You are a special boy, Iashi. With special abilities. A great Evil is rising, growing stronger as we speak. It is up to you to vanquish this Evil once and for all." "What?! What do you mean?! I’m just a normal high school student! How am I supposed to do that?!” Iashi burst out. The voice gave him a glare, not the kind you can see but more of the kind you feel that chills you to the bone, causing you to freeze in your tracks mid-sentence. "I will help you along the way to the best of my abilities, Iashi. The rest is up to you." The voice faded away into the darkness as those last words were uttered.
"Shi......Ashi....Iashi...IASHI...IASHI WAKE UP!!!!" Iashi woke up with Seito and Taka standing over him. They were in the School Nurse's Office. "Oh, thank god you're okay..." Seito gave a sigh of relief. "You took quite a spill there, boy." Taka said. "You had us worried." Iashi looked at them in confusion. "What's the matter, Iashi?" asked Seito. "I-it's n-nothing...d-don't worry about it..." Iashi replied, his mind obviously elsewhere. "Iashi. If something is wrong--" The door opened before Seito could finish. A tall, beautiful woman with long, violet hair wearing a lab coat and glasses walked in. "Oh! I hope I'm not interrupting anything...but you certainly seem to be feeling better, Iashi." "Yes, Ms. Yukito. I'm feeling better now." said Iashi, smiling. "Well just in case I'm going to need to take a few tests to make sure you're completely healthy." Ms. Yukito said. "Would you and Ms. Seito please leave the room until I say it's alright to come in, Mr. Taka?" "Oh, of course. We have some things to talk about anyway." replied Taka, rushing Seito out the door. When the door closed behind them Taka immediately turned to Seito. "Listen Seito, we have to protect Iashi at all costs." he said, suddenly serious and not acting his usually cheerful manner. "I know that, Sensei. We were already told what needed to be done. But things are getting harder and I think Iashi is starting to suspect something." Seito and Taka both look at the room where Iashi was being inspected by the nurse. "It doesn't matter what we do as long as he is kept safe. That last time was far too close. We didn't even notice them until it was too late." said Taka. "We let our guard down...and they got us." Seito said, looking at the ground in shame. "Now don't you worry about a thing." Taka guided Seito's head up with his fingers. "We protected him. And as long as we do that, our jobs are being done." "But what if we--" Seito began but was cut off as the door opened. Ms. Yukito was walking out with Iashi. "Now you be careful, Iashi. I'd hate to see you get seriously hurt one of these days." "Don't worry, Ms. Yukito. I'll be fine." "Especially with that weak body of yours!" Ms. Yukito laughed as Iashi's face grew red in both embarrassment and anger. "Oh, I'm just messing with you! Don't get so flushed or you'll pass out again!" Ms. Yukito tussled Iashi's hair. "Ahem..." Taka cleared his throat, reminding them of his and Seito's presence. "Oh, my apologies, Mr. Taka. I'll send Iashi off to class." "Oh, there's no need to do that! I will escort him and Seito there personally!" boomed Taka, once again in his cheerful voice. "A-are you sure?" stuttered Ms. Yukito, slightly worried. "Of course I'm sure! It'll give me a chance to meet the students!" Taka laughed. "Let's go Iashi! Seito!" Before anyone could respond Taka wrapped his big, muscly arms around the two teens and hurried them along the hallway to the classroom, leaving Ms. Yukito behind. "Oh dear. I do hope Iashi will be alright." She said as she turned to go back into the office. "Oh but the exact opposite will be true, my dear lady." Ms. Yukito spun around to see a man dressed in a black trench-coat and a gas mask standing behind her. "Excuse me sir but do you have a pass to--" "Gasto Mentra!" The man interrupted her as fumes sprayed from his fingertips, surrounding Ms. Yukito and knocking her out. "Hehehe sweet dreams." he said as he walked down the hallway Taka, Seito, and Iashi just went through.
